How we help you manage your debt.
Managing debt is something everyone needs help with at times. And when you know how to approach it, it doesn’t have to be difficult.
For customers.
No one wants the stress of unpaid debts following them around. If you owe money for a TV, an overdue electricity bill, phone bill, cash loan, or whatever it may be, we promise you a sympathetic ear and the right guidance to help you pay back the money. You may think what you can afford is too little. That we’ll take too much too quickly. But that’s not how we operate. We’ll find a sustainable figure you can afford, a fair amount that empowers you to pay the debt without causing any more stress.
Working closely with financial mentors.
DebtManagers works closely with expert financial mentors, people from your local community who are on your side and are available to help you manage your money and guide you out of debt. It’s free and is a service that’s helps tens of thousands of ordinary Kiwis deal with day-to-day budgeting.
Good people doing good.
Our network of financial mentors are good people, they work across the country helping all sorts of Kiwis struggling to make ends meet. They’ll help you by figuring out where your money goes, how to budget and how to make sure you can repay your debt while still sorting essentials like rent, food and electricity. They can also often access if you’re being paid your full MSD entitlement. And, if you need help with things like online bank forms or want support because you’re suffering genuine financial difficulty, they’re here to listen and advise you.

It’s easier to climb out of debt with a little expert guidance. Follow our 5-step process designed to ensure you succeed.
-
1
We’re assigned your debt
DebtManagers is assigned your debt from the company you owe money to, and we contact you so you can pay it in full or discuss a debt management plan. You can even request a face-to-face meeting if you prefer.
-
2
We listen
We treat you fairly, listen to why you haven’t paid and get an understanding of your financial situation. We work through any issues you may have about the amount owed. We can also provide proof that you owe the money should you need it.
-
3
We set goals
Together we work out a sustainable, manageable repayment plan that you agree to. To help you maintain the payments, we refer you to a local financial mentor or you can find one here. Did you know it’s a free service?
-
4
We adapt
You make payments as per your promise and contact us if anything changes or you’re prevented from paying it. If you’re facing financial difficulty, we’re happy to change payment levels depending on your circumstances.

5
You succeed
We encourage and incentivise you to make sure your debt is paid in full. Once it is, we update your credit defaults so that your credit score likely improves, and a better credit rating means better financial choices.
